Does soda really cause insomnia?

Most sodas are loaded with caffeine. Eight ounces of soda has about 30 milligrams. A cup of coffee has about 100 milligrams of caffeine per cup. So if you are sipping soda all day you could be getting more caffeine than you realize, and it could definitely keep you awake. Even if you manage to fall asleep, caffeine in your system can prevent you from getting into the deep stages of sleep you really need. For a better night's rest opt for decaffeinated sodas or, better yet, skip the soda altogether and go for a refreshing glass of water.

I want to give up coffee, but when I do I get horrible headaches. How can I wean myself from coffee?

Those awful headaches are just a painful reminder that caffeine is really a drug. I confess to being somewhat of an addict myself, but I manage to keep it to one cup a day. I feel your pain though because I have quit a couple of times myself, and I've suffered the same pounding headaches.

There are a couple ways to go about making the jump a little easier. If you want to go cold turkey, choose a nice long four-day weekend when you don't have the usual pressures upon you and you can sleep, breathe and relax your way through the headaches. A couple of Tylenol wouldn't hurt either. The headaches stop after three or four days, so by the time you have to go back to the grind the hard part will be over. Or you can wean yourself gradually, by slowly increasing the amount of decaf in your mug. Either way, you'll be doing your body a favor.

What are the health benefits of drinking green tea?

Green tea has been used for centuries in Asia as a medicinal beverage. Recent studies show that green tea contains powerful compounds that inhibit the growth of cancerous tumors. Green tea also contains potent anti oxidants, which neutralize toxins in the body. So enjoy green tea as a regular part of your diet! But keep in mind that it does contain caffeine, so don't over do it.
