In
the midst of chaos, according to eastern philosophy, lies opportunity.
And misery, as seen by some religions, can be God calling us toward
him/her. When things seem to be going poorly, growth can happen.
Pain motivates us to solve problems, if we can pull ourselves out
of a victim mentality. Use the pain to get in gear and make changes
that will lead you to a more satisfying life.
Making authentic choices means not making decisions out of fear.
But how do you decide whether you're doing something out of fear
or just being practical?
Fear-based choices tend to be more codependent, meaning that they'
re based on other peoples opinions of what we should be doing with
our lives. Taking advice is good--people who are mature and productive
have a lot to teach us. But we are the ones who ultimately need
to live with the choices we make, so they better suit us. Life is
just a collection of days, and the choices we make define the quality
of those days.
I
feel such anxiety about keeping my life in order. How can I just
surrender to the mysteries of life?
Surrender
is a moment-to-moment thing and does not preclude keeping your life
in order. Try to give up your anxious need for control or your fear
of the future. When you feel your pulse rising, relinquish the anxiety
you're carrying right at that moment . The mysteries of life are
waiting to unfold. I talk about this a lot in my books, "The Quiet
Voice of Soul"and "The Soul's Companion," if you want a little more
help.
