My
Japanese husband wants our house to be bilingual. While I understand
that this is important to him, I'm afraid of being left out of their
conversations (I don't speak Japanese) and that we're going to confuse
our son with too many languages at this stage of his development.
Any insights?
I would say that in today's more global society, children who are
brought up to be bilingual can have a big advantage, not to mention
a richer cultural understanding of both sides of their family.

My wife lies to me about spending money. She spends an inordinate
amount of money and then pretends that she hasn't. What can I do that
will convince her to stop the spending?
We suggest the two of you sit down with a neutral third party you
both respect and go through the bills. more

I have been reading a bit about Buddhism. Buddhist principles interest
me and make more sense to me than my own religion. I’m not sure if
I should pursue it.
The
only way you will know if it’s for you or not is by exploring it.

My husband wants to have sex after we fight. I sometimes think he
picks fights as a part of foreplay. I feel confused and disturbed
by this kind of sex. What should I do?
Men have different reactions than women do to volatile, personally
confronting events. more

My husband and I never lived together until we got married. Now I'm
thinking it was a big mistake not to go through a trial run. We can't
agree on many things. How can we ever keep each other happy?
You're asking three important questions. First of all, research
shows us that living together before marriage is associated with
higher risk of divorce.

My fiance' and I are real Afrophiles and would love to do something
that combines our love of the African continent with a romantic wedding.
Any suggestions?
Have you ever considered getting married in a hot air balloon in
Africa at one of the country's top safari camps? more

I’m
recovering from a nasty break-up. While I enjoy wallowing, I’d rather
do it someplace nice--maybe an island or a spa. I’m thinking about
a long weekend, perhaps five days. What do you suggest for a depressed
single gal like me?
Getting away for a few days can do wonders for your spirit, especially
when you're nursing a broken heart. more
